The History of Panorama Hotel Falassarna
35 Years of Family Hospitality in Crete
Everything began in 1990, when Dimitris and Vasiliki envisioned a small, warm, family-run hotel in Falassarna, Crete — a place where good food, genuine hospitality, and the beauty of Crete could come together. Their dream started to take shape, and in June 1991 the family tavern officially opened its doors to the public.
The following year, in 1992, six cozy rooms were added, welcoming the very first guests who wished to stay just a little longer in the then-quiet but increasingly admired Falassarna. As the area began to attract more and more visitors, the heart of the business — the kitchen — expanded, and soon after five additional rooms were built to meet the rising demand.
By 2004, the once-small establishment had grown stronger, step by step. With a renewed vision, a state-of-the-art swimming pool was constructed on the northwest side of the property — one of the most modern of its time in the region. Around the pool’s bar, unforgettable moments came to life: weddings, baptisms, birthdays, intimate family reunions, and even yoga retreats that brought together guests from around the world.
In the years that followed, the hotel underwent two major renovations, each one elevating the comfort and experience it offered, while plans for the next chapter quietly began to form.
By 2020, a new direction took shape. Antonis and Antonis took the lead in coordinating the gradual construction of ten brand-new suites, marking the evolution toward a modern 4-star hotel unit. The project advanced in phases: in 2023, two main building volumes were completed and three new suites opened their doors. By 2025, eight additional suites were ready, bringing the total to 21 suites and 8 classic rooms, all available to guests — with development continuing.
From a small family tavern overlooking the sea to a sophisticated retreat shaped by decades of dedication, the story continues to grow… always with the same values at its heart: hospitality, authenticity, and love for Falassarna.
